What You Should Know More About Coorg

  • Q. About the Destination

Nestled amidst ageless hills that line the southernmost edge of the state of Karnataka, Coorg is another exotic destination for you. It is a gifted town with acres of plantations and emerald green landscapes. A major hub for spice and coffee production, this rural town is home to the exquisite Kodava race. It is believed to have been descented from the migrating Kurds and Persians or even Greeks who were left behind from the army of Alexander the Great. The cool climate and uneven terrain make it an eccentric area for trekking, lazily dawdling around the less trodden paths around the carpeted hills and simple bird watching. Barpole river here is the ideal rafting destination especially for the first time rafters. It is surrounded by rafters and has a rapid upper and lower section. All in all, Coorg is revitalization guaranteed.

Coorg also known as Kodagu was a separate state until the year 1956 after which it merged with Karnataka. The key town and the transport hub of the Coorg is Madikeri. To make the most of your trip to this beautiful destination, you must take a plunge into the thick coffee plantations here where you can join the coffee pickers. Avoid visiting during weekends as the place gets quickly filled by weekenders from Bengaluru.
